A PROMENADE ACROSS FLORENCE:
When you might get tired of sightseeing around art galleries and museums, you want to have a fascinating promenade along the marvellous Florence city centre. Walking along the Arno, resting at the romantic Ponte Vecchio, proceeding towards the modern part of the city, the Oltrarno. It is recommended going for a walk around Boboli or Michelangelo’s square, San Miniato al Monte’s church, to take a look at the amazing panorama.
VOLTERRA AND THE ALABASTER:
It is about 2 millions far from now, when the Etruscan started working on the Alabaster, which is now still manufactured in Volterra city. Nowadays are just few the remaining factories on the city centre, reason why it is completely on them and on the few artisans working there, the responsibility to maintain vivid this tradition. Recently Volterra city has become more and more world-wide famous thanks to the ‘Twilight’ saga. In fact ‘New Moon’, the second chapter, has partly been set in this city.
This region is given the exclusive regarding sulphur and thermo-mineral waters by the peculiar geographical structure of this territory. The Maremma is rich in thermal baths locations like Saturnia, Acquaforte di Bagnore, Terme dell’Osa, Pitigliano and Sorano. On the Maremma surrounding countrysides, we recommend visiting Pitigliano’s hamlet, with the Jewish district and the monumental aqueduct. On the near outsides of the hamlet there are the Etruscan necropolis of Poggio Buco, the fascinating streets of Pitigliano, the megalithic complex of Poggio Rota and the Etruscan necropolis of Sovana. It is also recommended to visit Massa Marittima’s city centre with the Abundance Fountain and the Fertility Tree (in 1999, it was restored the fresco of the Fertility Tree, representing 25 masculine pubes); and the ancient oil mill, from the 1700s (active until half of the 900s), wooden structured and still well preserved.
