Day 1 – ARRIVE IN CATANIA: On arrival, meet with your Tour leader and transfer to your hotel . The rest of your afternoon is free to relax. Accommodation in hotel, overnight.

Day 2 – CATANIA / MOUNT ETNA / TAORMINA / ACIREAL: After breakfast, we depart on trip to Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. Weather conditions permitting, across fascinating landscapes, you will reach a height of 1800 meters, and here you will enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of the Ionic Sea. Enjoy lunch on your own before continuing to Taormina, called the Pearl of the Ionic Sea. You will visit Taormina’s fascinating Greek Theatre, and afterwards you will have free time for a nice walk among the picturesque medieval typical narrow streets and go shopping and looking around the local handycraft shops (coral jewels, precious laces, ceramics, sweets and much more). The day will end with a short panoramic tour of the beautiful Riviera dei Ciclopi. Overnight in hotel Acireale area.

Day 3 – CATANIA / SIRACUSA / NOTO / CATANIA: After breakfast in hotel you will visit Siracusa, the most beautiful and greatest Greek colony in Sicily and World Heritage Site! The visit will start with the Archaeological Park of Neapolis, with its Greek Theatre, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Latomie of Paradise and the Ear of Dionysius. Go on visiting the splendid Ortigia, a small island which is the historical centre of Siracusa. In Ortigia you will admire the beautiful Cathedral which dominates the square with its authoritative presence. Free time for lunch. Departure towards Noto, the capital of Sicilian baroque, famous for its fine buildings of the early eighteenth century and declared Unesco World Heritage Site. Back to your hotel for overnight.

DAY 4 – CATANIA / CEFALU / PALERMO: Today, you will start your visit with the historical centre of Catania, with its unique streets built with black lava stone. The walking tour will start across the ”pescheria” (the ancient fish market) to reach the scenic Duomo square with its magnificent Cathedral and the famous ”Liotru” statue, an antique lava-stone elephant, symbol of the city. 

Not far from here you will discover the University Square and you will take a stroll along the splendid baroque Via dei Crociferi. Next, you will stop in a historical bar of the city to taste the typical ”granita & brioche”. Free time for lunch. Transfer to Cefalù, a charming medieval town situated at the northern coast of Sicily. You will visit the stunning Norman Dome and you will have free time to discover the town on your own. In the late afternoon continue to Palermo for overnight.

Day 5 – PALERMO / MONREALE / PALERMO: After breakfast, you will visit the historical center of Palermo, including the Cathedral, the Palatine Chapel, and the Royal Palace. Afterwards transfer to Monreale, a town residing on the slope of Monte Caputo. Once a mere village, Monreale started its expansion when the Norman Kings of Sicily chose the area as their hunting resort and building their palace at this site. You will visit the Cathedral, one of the most beautiful monuments in the world, with its Moorish architecture and the Benedictine Cloister in Arab-Normal style. Enjoy lunch on your own, followed by the afternoon at leisure. Back to your hotel for overnight.

Day 6 – PALERMO / SEGESTA / ERICE / SELINUNTE / AGRIGENTO: After breakfast, departure towards Segesta to visit the Doric Temple which keeps in its stones the weight of a long history. Next, you will go to Erice, a medieval town full of misticism, history and art. It sits on top of Mt. Erice, overlooking the city of Trapani and the Egadi Islands. After lunch on your own, continue to the Archaeological park of Selinunte, the largest in the Mediterranean area, with its impressive Temples and Acropolis. Afterwards, you will go on to Agrigento for your overnight stay.

Day 7 – AGRIGENTO / PIAZZA ARMERINA / CATANIA: After breakfast, visit the Valley of the Temples, where among hundreds of almond trees, the remains of the ancient Akragas rise. It was defined by Pyndar ”the most beautiful city of mortals”. Agrigento presents a remarkable series of Doric Temples of the 5th century. You will visit the ”Temple of Hera”, the ”Temple of Concordia” and the ”Temple of Heracles”. Continue to Piazza Armerina. Enjoy lunch on your own. This afternoon, visit Villa Romana del Casale to view the richest, largest and most complex collection of late Roman mosaics in the world. Afterwards, you will go back to Catania . Accommodation in hotel and overnight.
